| Re: 10yrs of BC and coming off them???
There are a ton of side effects associated with being ON the pill, but what they don't tell you about is that the same (or worse) effects can happen when you finally make the decision to come off.
Anything can happen. Hair loss, weight gain, bloating, cramps at weird times, headaches that last for weeks, acne, feeling like you're pregnant (but you're not), etc. The list goes on. Additionally, it might take from 6 months to a year to get your period to come back regularly.
HOWEVER, some women have very mild side effects from quitting and they get their period back right away. It just depends on your own body and how it works.
I was on the pill 14 years and quit at the end of June this year. I got my period back right away and on time at 28 days, and each period has been 28 days after that. I'm apparently the only one I know, because so far, everyone else I've met online has said they are taking forever to get their cycle back. Just know that if you don't get your period back right away, that's totally normal and to be expected.
As for the other symptoms, anythign can happen - or nothing can happen. It just depends on how your body readjusts to live without fake hormones. For some women, it really takes a long time to detox. But you can help yourself along the way by taking Evening Primrose Oil or Vitex supplements. To help your moods, take an Omega 3-6, and a B-Complex. Also, because the fake hormones deplete your body of zinc and magnesium, you should take those, too.
There is more information on the net about Evening Primrose and Vitex, because you will see that it helps women who are transitioning off the pill to get their cycles back in order.
