My wife has been off Depo for 9 months.... - Birth Control Message Board

My wife has been off of the Depo Provera shot for 9 months and we're trying to have a baby. So far...no luck. She tells me that she was always irregular. Now, she gets her period about once every 50 days.

She's 5'2, and about 105lbs. I'm not sure if body size means anything.

I've read that it's different for everybody, but how long will it take? She's bummed out now because every month she's late and every month she gets her period. She feels like not trying any more.

Any help? Advice?

Unfortunately, my experience conceiving after Depo didn't go well at all. But, my situation was a lot different because my period never returned. It took me 2 years to conceive (which was difficult with no period......I had to be put on Clomid which worked for me after 4 months).

The best advice I can give to you and your wife is to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. You said that your wifes cycles were always irregular and now since Depo are every 50 days. Do you mean she was regular before Depo and not irregular??? If she was irregular before Depo, chances are there is an underlying cause for that and needs to find what that underlying cause it. If she was NOT irregular before Depo and is now, then it is due to the Depo. Same thing happened to me.

Did your wife get her period while she was on Depo? How long was she on it?
