Re: which bc makes periods lighter?

Yasmin has helped me with that. I never had an extremely heavy period, more like normal, but now it's lighter. I used to get sick and throw up every month on my period and now that doesn't happen at all so it's really nice. I also don't experience really bad bloating and never get cramps!

I still have a 5 day period on Yasmin, but it stops for a day in the middle, but it's normal the first 2 days and very light the other days.. so it isn't too bad at all! I hope this helps! I heard that Yaz (similar to Yasmin) is also supposed to give you shorter and lighter periods. You may want to look into both.

Re: which bc makes periods lighter?

Majority of women who try Loestrin24fe have reported not having their period at all. Why that's a problem, I can't quite understand, because I would be happy to not have my period every month, but they complain.

Anyway, I have heard that this is the best pill for making a period lighter.

However, keep in mind, always, that pills react differently in different women. I've read on other message boards that women on Yaz and Yasmin have had problems with depression in a really bad way. It's well known to either cause mood problems or exacerbate an already existing problem. If you're prone to problems with depression, you may not want to go with Yaz or Yasmin.

I actually talked to my doctor about the depression problems.. and the funny thing is that Yasmin is one of the least likely to cause mood problems. Pills like Ortho Tricyclen have the highest risk. I guess there are a lot of unlucky ones on Healthboards! I have dealt with mood problems but they are not caused by the pill and I started them before going on the pill. My doctor recommended not going on the pill if Yasmin was causing problems b/c some are worse. Who knows!!

Re: which bc makes periods lighter?

It's hard to say, because as I said, different women react differently to the various pills. I post on another women's health forum where there are a lot of posts about Yasmin and Yaz being really bad for mood problems. I was surprised to read so many complaints.

There was also a time when I was reading only positive things about Mircette/Kariva, from all of the women who were using it. But then I started reading a lot of negative things. I guess it just depends on body chemistry and so on. That's why it's so hard to find a pill that works for each woman, because we're all so different. I finally gave up on hormonal bc all together because I got tired of trying so many brands and having no luck.
