Seasonique - Birth Control Message Board

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about their expeirences with Seasonique? I just went to the gyno today, and I asked her to switch me from Yasmin to Seasonale, and she recommended the new Seasonique. She told me it is a lot like seasonale, but instead of the white pills being inactive, they have a low dose of estrogen. Anyway I was just wanting some feedback from women who have actually tried it.

I was on Seasonale for 6 months and I almost went insane. Like I mean I almost checked myself into a mental hospital because my moods declined so rapidly, I literally thought I was losing my mind. I would cry at any moment for no reason, I felt like the world was going to end, and I felt like I was dying. It was the most horrible experience of my entire life, and after 6 months I decided to quit! Thankfully!

I went back on my old pill that was not causing me to feel that apocalyptic feeling, which was quite literally the most horrible I've ever felt in my life.

What birth control are you currently on that is working for you?

I'm not on any BC. I quit completely last summer when I decided all of the side effects weren't worth it anymore. I couldn't stand it anymore. Now I'm using a combination of FAM and condoms.

I'm on Seasonique because it's A) supposed to help control my ovarian cysts B) Help my Endometriosis and C) Stop my periods for 3 months. OK. I began mid-way through my cycle, so my period was due in 2 weeks and taking the pill stopped my period from coming. Now I'm on week 6 and I'm spotting. I've been cramping since week 2 1/2. My moods are declining. I'm exhausted, cranky, and I have been getting rather volatile mood swings since about week 4. My lower back is also killing me alot, like it does when my period comes. It's causing a resurgance in my migraines, also.

And, curiously, when I called to report all this to my doctor's nurse she told me none of these were side effects of Seasonique. Apparently she can't read the package insert! I would think twice about taking any BC's and weigh the pro's and con's.
