Morning after pill and early period - Birth Control Message Board

Hey,

2 weeks ago my condom split so my gf took the morning after pill the next day, today she says she is having a lighter period. Its also 2 weeks early.

Is this normal?

Emergency contraception pills tend to make a womans body do things like early periods, spotting, etc. It's a high dose of hormones, so it can have that effect on the body. Maybe try calling the doctor and asking some questions if you guys are concerned.

Your timeline is a little weird. If you had sex 2 weeks ago, and she's 2 weeks early, that's 4 weeks, the length of an entire normal cycle. Is this right or does she have really long cycles?
Regardless, ECP is known to mess up women's cycles, so I wouldn't be too worried.

I have took the morning after pill and for that month my period was all screwed up, very short and early..but never ended up pregnant & the doc told me thats what that pill will do to you. So im sure thats just what shes going through. Its very good you opted to take the pill the very next day you had sex...when i went to get my morning after pill she asked me how long has it been since this happened and i said one day and she said okay youll be fine..so im sure you will be also
