Skipping Period?

I have been taking Marvellon 21 for years now with no problems. My boyfriend and I are currently in a long-distance situation for a few months. We only get to see each other for a few days each month. I know that you can skip your period by skipping your rest week on the pill but I am just wondering about the timing. His next trip (two weeks from now) corresponds with my next period. I have just over one more week's worth of pills left, so if I skipped my week off and went straight to a new pack, would I miss my period already this month, or does it take a while to kick in, if that makes sense? Basically, I should be getting my period in two weeks, so if I go straight to a new pack can I avoid my period, or should I have skipped my week off last cycle?

I also know about the chance of breakthrough bleeding by using this method, and I only plan on doing it this one time (if the timing works out). I just had my PAP but it completely slipped my mind to ask my doctor about the timing.

Thank you!
