How Long? A few questions...NEW

Hello all,
I recently started YAZ. I started my first pill on the first day of my period. I am now in the 2nd week of my first pack. This is my first time on birth control and had a few questions.....

1) When is it okay to have sex without back up protection?? Like how long should I be on the pill.

2) My breasts are pretty swollen and tender, will this go away or will this always be a side effect?

3) I heard that there is a way to skip a period incase of a vacation, or wedding or special event or something. How do you do that??

Thank you so much for all your replies!!!!!!!

Re: How Long? A few questions...NEW

1. I'm on yaz as well. Since you took the pill on the first day of your period, then you are protected right away. (I also was a first day starter). You can have unprotected sex right now. Read the insert that comes with the pills it states this. (It's on page 14 of the insert).

2. My breasts were swollen for my first pack as well. Mine didn't hurt that bad and it only lasted for a couple of weeks. That was the only side effect I ever had. This side effect should go away.

3. Yes you can skip a period. I've done it using yaz. You shouldn't skip a period for more than 3 months though. All you have to do is when it comes time to take the white placebo pills, just throw them out and start a new pack. It helps if you have an extra pack of pills if you want to skip your period. I got two free samples for my doctor, and if I want to skip my period I just take 4 pills out of that pack to take in place of the placebos, so my next pack won't be short four pills.
