Am I taking it right? - Birth Control Message Board

I am beginning on the pill for the first and started taking it today.I am on levlen ed.My period was due two days ago,I guess it's a little late so it should come this week,but tonight (It is tuesday where i am) I took a normal hormonal tuesday pill (not the sugar one). This is my starting point.Will i get my period that is due this week?I am unsure if one tablet can stop you from getting ur cycle if its due soon. And if I wait 7 days can i then have unprotected sex?

You are not suppose to get your period until you take all the hormone pills. After those are taken 1 a day every day till gone then your period should start sometime during that week of the sugar pills.

One is not to start the pill until AFTER you start bleeding from your period. Did you start bleeding then take the pill? If not then it was taken incorrectly and I have no idea when or if you will get a period this month. If you took them wrong I'd call your doctor. You may need to stop the pill wait till you get your period this month and next month then start the pill again.

If I understood you wrong and you took it correctly.... if you started the pill on the first day of bleeding then for that week you do not need protection. If you started the pill the first Sunday after your period then you need to use protection for at least 7 days

The pill only protects from pregnancy. It does not protect you from any STD's
