| Re: Gynefix coil experiences and advice???
Hi,
I originally wanted a Gynefix after I quit the pill last October, however by the time I got my appointment with a Dr at the clinic I was told that they had stopped using them becuase of the higher chance of puncturing the uterus when it is inserted. Apparently the device used to insert it is similar to a staplegun/earpeirce gun that fires the threads through the uterus was.
Because I couldnt have a Gynefix I went for a copper IUD - started off with a UT380 (it expelled) and i now have a NOVA T. I have been really happy with my choice. Both of these can be fitted to women who haven't given birth and it wasn't painful just a bit uncomfortable. I suspect it was no more uncomfortable than having a Gynefix fitted. If it is the effect on your period that is concerning you, I've found that mine havent really changed at all in comparrison to how they were before i went on the pill, other than a bit more crampy - but nothing an Ibruprofen and warm bath can't handle.
I think it might be difficult to find information on the Gynefix becuase it is only avaliable (as far as i am aware) in the UK. I think when i was looking there was some info on the FPA website, dont know if you have seen that or not?
I hope that some of that is some help - bit of a Thursday afternoon ramble I'm afraid!
