I wouldn't say it's dangerous but it does regulate your period really well. I was on Yasmin but had too many side effects that I'm on Alesse now. The only bad thing about birth control pills is the side effects. You could always go on them for a while and then go off them in hopes that your period is already regulated and won't get screwy again. My period was worse than yours when my doctor suggested the pill to correct for that problem. Since I've started the pill I know roughly the HOUR +/1 1/2hrs it will come, so it's been very accurate for me. Do more research and ask your doctor questions if you're still unsure about them.
