Opinions on the sponge - Birth Control Message Board

Anyone tried the Today Sponge? I've been thinking about giving it a try, yet Im not too sure about it. I know the percentages of effectiveness and all that. Is it comfortable? Can the guy feel it? Is it hard to get back out? and were you happy with it? I know thats a lot of questions, but just wanted to see if I could get some opinions on it. Thanks.

I absoutely loved it when I used it. I used it as backup protection when I switched pills for awhile...
No, they cant feel it and its no harder to use then a tampon! Just dont leave it in longer than the recommended time, which I believe is 6 hours....otherwise, you might risk some yeast or uterine infections....it does have Noxonyl 9 the spermacide already in it, so if you have any allergies to that, you should be advised. I used it for about 2 months off and on and have to say, im thinking of starting again! Im going off the pill in 2 weeks, and then having a tubal in late January, in the interim, the sponge might be the way to go!

The only thing I caution you in is it is highly effective if used properly if you have never had a child. If you have the effectiveness decreases quite a bit. Use spermicide as well to try and make up for the dip in effectiveness.
