21 vs 24 days of active pills
First time on the pill. My Dr. game me a two-month supply of Loestrin 24 FE to try, but a Rx for Microgestin (cheaper for generic). I like the 24 days of active pills for the shorter period (which I haven't been able to 'enjoy' yet, as I haven't been using it for three months yet. I had 'bleeding' for 11 days last month. Nothing heavy, but just inconvenient).
My question is this: with Microgestin having the normal 21 days of active pills and the seven days of sugar pills (or whatever they are), what does that do to the length and severity of one's period? Generally, of course, as we are all different.
Finally, do you really HAVE to take the extra pills? What do they even do? Are they just reminder pills? Do they serve any other purpose besides that?
