Yaz and Spiro together - Birth Control Message Board

My doctor just recently prescribed me Yaz and Spiro for my hormonal acne and hair loss. But I'm getting a little worried because I've read many things about Yaz making your hair fall out. I was on Ortho Tri Cylcen for awhile and when I got off of it, I lost alot of my hair. I don't want the same thing to happn again. But my question is.... Since I'm taking the spiro along with the yaz, will hair loss be less likely? Anybody else take both of these drugs? Any help would be great

Hmmm I didn't think a doctor could prescribe one with the other without checking potassium levels. I would definitely check with the pharmacist and see if they are contraindicated with each other.

I take Yaz and Spiro for acne. No negative side effects. What dosage of spiro are you taking? Yaz has the equivalent of 25 mg of spiro. So getting your potassium checked every once in a while is not a bad idea. I get mine checked twice a year. I think most doctors will keep you under a 200mg total dosage to keep that risk from going up too much.
