Question how long does BC stay in your system?

Hi. I was on Birth Control (orthotricycline) for 6 years, and quit taking it december 2007, bcause we are ready to have a baby. we are in no huge hurry, whatever happens happens...

but can birth control stay in your system for this long or is it more likely me?(not my hubby-hes gotten someone pregnant before) i read somewhere that it can stay in your system for up to a year...

am i worrying too soon, or no? who do i go to to find out if its me and not the BC?(yikes!)

anyone know??

Re: how long does BC stay in your system?

The pill doesn't stay in your system. The pill actually leaves your system pretty quickly after you quit. The side effects of having been on are what lasts for up to a year. What happens is that your hormones can potentially take a long time to regulate due to having been on the pill. And some women have reported that it can take anywhere from just 1 cycle to a few months to a year to get their normal cycle back on track.

Are you not having a regular period yet? Because that's not totally uncommon. Some women resume a normal period right away after quitting, but others have to wait longer until their ovaries start responding again. And some women have a normal period for a few months but then have nothing for a while. It all depends on your body and how long it takes for your hormones to regulate. But the pill is definitely not in your system anymore after such a long time.

Re: how long does BC stay in your system?

My GYN told me it leaves quickly too. Also, I took a 2 month break- before I realized I had ENDO (Yikes, can't take breaks like that now!) and I had my period like clockwork those 2 months, no adjusting time at all! Granted, that was a different pill than what I am now, too. Every woman and every pill is, of course, different.
