Considering taking Yaz

After trying literally about 15 different kinds of bcp during my reproductive life I have now been prescribed Yaz. The last kind I tried was Mircette/Kariva and I hated it! I knew little about Yaz but my doctor thought it would be could for PMDD ( which I think I do have ) and handed me some samples to try. If I like it after two months I 'm going to go back in for some tests and get a prescription. However, I've been doing some internet research and I see A LOT of negative postings about Yaz. I even found one website solely dedicated to how bad this bcp was. I read stories about how women ended up in the hospital because of negative side effects! Yikes! Now I regret reading any of this. It scared me to death!!! However, I did start my pack today. I would love to hear from some of you who have taken Yaz or are currently taking Yaz. I want to hear the good and bad. I shared some of my worries with my dr. and he assured me that it was "no big deal" if I Didn't like this drug, then I would quit and we'd find another to suit me. But I figured that it'd just be a few bad side effects that I wouldn't like, I Didn't think I would end up in the hospital!!! Please help. I want to hear all your experiences!

Thumbs up Re: Considering taking Yaz

I've been taking Yaz for a year and I really really like it. It's the first birth control I've ever been on and it has significantly shortened my periods (from 13 days to 6 days) and lessened my cramps and moodiness.

Everything was perfect when I began taking it; I didn't spot, I got all of my periods during the 3 month trial, and I didn't feel nauseous or have any other side effects. It didn't even make me gain weight and any acne I had before starting Yaz went away. It has never put me in the hospital and I've never had ANY problems with it. I'd hate to think about having to go off of it one day.

I can see where this would all seem too good to be true but it's an honest testimonial. I love Yaz and have absolutely no complaints against it.

Re: Considering taking Yaz

i've been taking it for over a year. No real issues .. i too found all the horror stories when i was looking for the one weird side effect that i had...... My hair seemed a bit oilier and now my hair grows faster than ever... same with nails, eyebrows. It has to be the yaz.. Nothing else has changed. I did have fatigue for quite a while.

I basically have no periods on Yaz.. my body has always needed to have 3-4 days to start and there are only 4 inert pills in the pack. The doc said it wasn't an issue so i was thrilled!

I know what you mean, but remember that people post negative comments more than positive..

Re: Considering taking Yaz

I can't really name any cons. It took away 99% of my cramps and my period is only two days, sometimes less.
