Loestrin 1/20FE Vs. Loestrin 24FE - Birth Control Message Board

Hi guys

I'm wondering if there's a difference between Loestrin 1/20FE and Loestrin 24FE, besides that the 24FE has 24 days of active pills. Are the pills themselves the same? If so, I'm assuming it's safe to take my Loestrin 1/20FE as it is, and then take the first three weeks of the Loestrin 24FE so it's as if I'm just taking 1/20FE, right?

One more question please!

Are there any consequences if I switch between the generic Junel 1/20FE and brand name Loestrin 1/20FE?

The Loestrin 24 has more active pills. I believe the strength is the same with the Loestrin 1/20 FE. I took that one for 10 years with no problem. After I had my baby in April, my OB switched me to Loestrin 24. The only reason I don't like it is because it doesn't come in a generic form which costs me too much money. If you switch brands of birth control pills you run a chance of getting pregnant in between the switch. I know people who got pregnant doing this. In my honest opinion, I would use a back up for at least 2 months to be on the safe side.
