Breakthrough bleeding and cycles lasting longer - Birth Control Message Board

This is my first pack on Lo 24FE and I have been having breakthrough bleeding everday. I just started my cycle 5 days before I got the brown pills. I took one of the first brown pills today. My cycles generallly only lasted 4-5 days but not it has been going on for a week with no sign of stopping. This is the first pill I have tried in more than 10 years. I just had a baby and he will be three months old on the 29th. If anyone has had the same symptoms please tell me. I hope it gets better.

Joan, the problem with the pill that you're taking is that it's very low dose. And it appears that for you, your body can't handle such a low dose pill because you're having excessive breakthrough bleeding. Your best bet is to go back to your doctor and get a higher dose pill. This one is clearly not working for you.

I have been on pills for over 8 years and as of yesterday I started to experience breakthrough bleeding for the first time. I am very puzzled why all of the sudden now? I am trying to find out what causes this but I haven't figured it out yet. I want to get off synthetic hormones anyways, so maybe this is my sign to stop taking them.....
