Hi there! I can definitely understand some of your concerns regarding birth control. It really is quite tricky finding the perfect fit. I hated the Pill, which is why I was not on for too long. Like you, it gave me terrible headaches, made me moody as hell, and I just didn't like the other side effects. I opted to get off of it.
After the birth of my daughter, I decided to go for the Paragard IUD. I had this for a little over a year. I had it removed because my periods lasted for up to 8 days and I got terrible backaches every other month. Enough was enough.
I know you said you didn't want to do the hormone route anymore, however, the NuvaRing is a very low dose as well as the Mirena IUD. It's definitely an option. I tried the NuvaRing for a bit and did not have any headaches but did have a low libido. (I'm not on anything right now though for insurance issues.)
We plan on trying for baby #2 next year, so I'm going to ask for the Mirena after baby is born. My sister-in-law has it as well and LOVES it. She too was in "Pill-Hell" (headaches/moodiness) and swears by the Mirena.
I hope you find a good fit for you. I know it's not easy.
Take Care!

Laura
