Bleeding and Depo provera - Birth Control Message Board

Hello,
I am new to this bord and I am just blogging because I am curious about something. About 6months ago I started taking Depo Provera. Ever since I have been bleeding almost constantly. I have tried estrogen based BC pills to stop the bleeding. That didn't work. My OB/gyn also put me on Megestrol (more progestin) Which pretty much stoped the bleeding the first time, but as soon I stoped taking them (ran-out) and took my second Depo shot, the bleeding was back. Sooo, my doc put me on another round of Megestrol. This time it just "lightened" the flow but didnt stop it. I have been bleeding for the better part of 6months and I am at my wits end. Does anyone A) know how to stop the bleeding, because my Doc is outta ideas or B) know how long it takes this usually to stop.

I've been on depo for the last 7+ years...I bled for the first 6 months and then have not had a period since...it is wonderful!

I have been on depo over 10 years and don't bleed at all

ive been on depo for almost 2 years and bleed on and off all the time its annoying.. im switching soon.. ive tired diff things to stop it, it just comes back.. it mostly blleds during intercourse and nothing kills the mood more

Hi, i have a problem with the depo too and im confused and scared. Im 28, i took the depo, through out the whole 3 months a bled and now 3 months later im still bleeding on and off. I bleed for like 2 weeks then stop for 2 days and then start again. This has been going on for 3 months after talking the injection, is this a normal side affect. Thanks
