IUD and tampon use

Hi all

I've been recently fitted with an IUD. After speaking to my doctor and reading the handy pamphlet they give you, I was fine with it, especially because you can still use tampons. Yesterday though, I had a tampon in (sorry to be so graphic), and I got this massive headache. I didn't think anything of it really because I'm a bad migraine sufferer anyway, but when it came time to change "it" the headache immediately went away as soon as I took it out! I didn't insert a new one, but used a pad just in case the headache came back, and I never got the headache back.

Has anyone else experienced this with IUD's? Other than that, it's been great, but if this is going to give me headaches as well, I don't know what I'm going to do. I hate pads because I feel like I'm in diapers and I don't feel clean in them, but I also have been banned from BCP's because they give me bad migraines as well. Can't use condoms because I'm allergic to the rubber, and hubby doesn't like them anyway.

I don't think we have Yasmin here... but maybe that would be better if I can manage to get it from the states? Anyhow, if anyone else has had headaches because of IUD or IUD with tampon use, I'd sure like to know about it because I can't seem to find anything on the 'net about it. Re: IUD and tampon use

Amy, don't give up on the IUD yet. I sincerely doubt there was a link between the tampon and the headache. I've had an IUD for several years. If it persists, then talk to your doctor, but I bet they are not related.
