Unhappy Switching Back and Forth

Hi everyone,
I have a question about a rather unusual situation with my girlfriend and I. She had been taking the birth control Microgestin for years until deciding to give another on a shot. She was then put on Avaine. Well, the next time she went to get a refill, apparently there was a mess up at the pharmacy/doctor's and they called in her old one, the Microgestin. She decided to go ahead and switch back, because she didn't like some of the side effects of Avaine.

Well, she took that for a month and then needed to get a refill, and you guessed it - again a mistake was made, and they gave her Avaine! Aside from getting a new doctor, is there anything dangerous or wrong with taking the Avaine for a month and then again switching back to Microgestin? So frustrating!

Re: Switching Back and Forth

I have no idea however I was taking Yasmin for years (2000-2008) and then somehow a generic pill came available (Ocella) because the price of Yasmin went from $20 to $50 overnight. I asked the pharmacist or my GYN why the price increased and this was when i was told about the generic pill. So when I switched to Ocella, which had the exact ingredients as Yasmin, it made me vomit every 28 days. I stopped taking it.

That's interesting.. and terrible! I'm sorry that happened to you. You just never know how anyone will react to each different type of birth control.
