Thumbs down Bleeding after depo shot for almost 3 weeks, will it ever stop?!

I'm 15 & I just got my first injection of the depo shot, and that was 3 weeks ago and I've been bleeding ever since! Will it ever stop?! What should I do?! I much rather go on the pill, then the shot anyways. The only reason I got the shot is because it stops your period, and everybody in my family that got the shot said it stopped their period & they didn't bleed for almost a month after their first injection! What should in I do?!

Hi Jordanfrazee, I would say that having a menstrual period for3 weeks can be as normal for you as getting it or 5 days. If the bleeding is heavy call your doctor immediately. I imagine by now if there was heavy bleeding, though, you would have fainted, and that wouldn't be a good thing. I would ask for other alternative birth control at your next doctor visit. Be aware this cycle of bleeding may occur everytime you get an injection. I hope you feel better soon.
