Birth Control for someone with depression
I suffer from depression and anxiety that I manage through therapy and meds. I'm doing great as it is, but I've been off BC for about two years now.
Here's the background. The first BC I took was Mononessa, which caused me to gain weight, lose my sex drive, etc. I went off it when I broke up with my boyfriend of the time.
The next BC I took was Ortho-Tricyclen-Lo. This was prescribed partially in response to the fact that I was suffering from depression and I was particularly vulnerable to mood swings on BC. I had to go off this pill because I was experiencing the worst depression and mood swings of my life.
Now, I'm looking to start up BC again. I don't want to do the non-hormonal IUD at this point, so I guess I'm just looking for anecdotal evidence from folks who have taken BC that doesn't exacerbate depression/anxiety/mood swings. Yaz/Yasmin? Minipill? Monophasic or triphasic?
I'm talking to my doc this week, but wanted to do my research before going in.
