What Do I Do If I Started My Period Late on Ortho Evra?
I am on my first 'week off' on my first month of ever using Ortho Evra, or any kind of birth control, ever. I applied my first patch on a friday, my second patch on a friday, and my third patch on a friday. The following friday to the third friday I removed my patch (last friday) and have been waiting to be on my period for five days. Well, I just started this morning. I probably won't be finished until this Sunday--but that isn't the day I'm supposed to apply my new patch!
I'm supposed to apply one this Friday, but I'll still be on my period because I started my period late. Please someone be so kind as to tell me what to do? Should I put the patch on this Friday even though I'll still be menstruating, or should I wait until it stops to apply? Will waiting throw off my birth control schedule and make me unprotected from pregnancy? My doctor told me nothing of the "What Ifs..."

You should never change your schedule based on bleeding. Regardless of whether you are still bleeding or not, you should change the patch whenever you are supposed to.
And in answer to your question, yes it will affect your protection status if you miss your day of application so I strongly advise you not to alter your schedule for application.
