19 days post surg

Still getting better. 3 days ago had my first post-op face-to-face appt. All of the steri strips were gone and the incisions had closed up nicely. Still a little tenderness in center abdomen above the navel, near the lowest incision. Probably nothing to worry about -- after all, the doc had shoved a camera and an air hose into that incision.
The best part is that they cleared me to try more foods. The suggested a "sloppy diet". Meat, pasta, well cooked vegetables as long as I eat...

Still improving but still tired. Like with any kind of surgery, there are up days and the other kind of days. I'm still staying pretty restrictive on the diet -- Boost, Ensure, juices and malt-o-meal. The malt-o-meal has extra protein if you add an egg while cooking it. It seems to stick with you a little longer, too. I find I'm getting hungrier and food smells are getting my attention a lot more. I'm still using the higher calorie, higher protein version of the drinks because I know I need that...

So I just started an accutane treatment and I wanted to post my experiences/results to this site. I am taking 60 mg (30 mg twice daily) of absorbica. I have what some consider to be mild acne, but it is very, very, very persistent. I have had persistent, large bumps develop between my eyebrows around a year and a half now and have had bumps develop on my chin within the past four months. The bumps between my eyebrows are leaving open pores.

Tonsillectomy Recovery :)

Posted 07-11-2013 at 02:56 PM by niccog26

On 4th July 2013 I had a tonsillectomy, at age 34! I wanted to write this blog to show that if you follow what the doctors tell you the recovery is much faster and not as terrible as the ‘horror stories’ make out. After all you only find the worst case scenario when you search online, who really posts a success story, right?!

In June 2012 I started with what I thought was a common sore throat. It lasted months and after numerous ENT and doctors’ appointments I was diagnosed with Glandular...

1 week post op

Posted 07-10-2013 at 10:14 AM by Frumquist (GERD - Fundoplication surgery)

Really uneventful. I like it. One thing I should have mentioned earlier concerns insurance. I'm on medicare and this procedure is considered an outpatient procedure. What that means is that your hospital stay is covered under part B (80%) not the hospital benefit of part A. I don't know how that may affect private insurance coverage. Fortunately my supplemental policy will pick most (all--I hope) of the stuff medicare misses. The only reason I mentioned it was to remind anyone to closely check...
