I haven't updated my results for a while, but I have continued to do well. I'm now in my 12th years since diagnosis with a challenging case (baseline PSA 113.6, Gleason 3+4=7 per expert, stage 3, all cores positive, scans negative), and intermittent triple androgen deprivation therapy (IADT3) plus finasteride continuously has been my sole therapy. (Plus low-dose thalidomide/vitamin B6 boosts to extend off therapy periods, bisphosphonates for bone density protection, and lifestyle tactics, mainly as recommended by Dr. Charles "Snuffy" Myers, MD.)

Here's a recap of my key results including the months running up to going off the heavier dugy drugs, stopping Casodex on 4/14/2010, and with the four month Lupron shot running out on 4/15/2010:

9/18/2008 Resumed ADT - PSA 9.53 on 9/3/2008 (3rd on full therapy phase, after stopping second on full therapy phase on 12/12/2006 - PSA <0.01 on 12/5/2006, 21 months off therapy for second cycle)

12/24/2009 PSA 0.04

3/2/2010 PSA 0.03, Vitamin D 54

3/25/2010 DEXA BMD scan normal for the first time since 2000!

4/2/2010 PSA 0.04, Vitamin D 62

4/15/2010 Lupron ran out today, stopped bicalutamide 4/14/2010

6/15/2010 PSA 0.02, Vitamin D 66
Unexpected drop in PSA after stopping heavy duty drugs
Two months into vacation

8/16/2010 PSA 0.11, Vitamin D 66
Four months into vacation

9/14/2010 BP 102/65, pulse 61
Cardio is important too!

10/27/2010 PSA 1.02,
Testosterone 372
Six and a half months into vacation

1/5/2011 PSA 3.13
Testosterone 513
Vitamin D 53
Eight and three fourths months into vacation

My side effects are all completely gone by this point, and I'm feeling great and doing very well.

Progress at 4 months into vacation from Lupron/bicalutamide

Posted 08-21-2010 at 01:14 PM by IADT3since2000 (My IADT3 results for third vacation period - 10th month)

PSA test of 8/16/2010, 4th month on vacation from the heavy duty drugs (Lupron and Casodex)

My PSA rose from 0.02 to 0.11. I was hoping that SuperBio Curcumin was possibly potent enough to keep my PSA down for a while, but I'm satisfied with the brief decline at the two month point after going on the vacation from the heavy duty drugs in April, and I'm happy with the current modest increase in PSA to 0.11. My prostate is clearly recovering as I again start to produce substantial...

My story - prostate cancer treated with IADT3 (Intermittent Triple Androgen Dep. Tx)

Posted 03-11-2010 at 08:27 AM by IADT3since2000 (My IADT3 results for third vacation period - 10th month)
Updated 03-13-2010 at 08:29 PM by Administrator (removed doctor names)

This is a story I will continue updating during my eleventh year of intermittent triple androgen deprovation therapy for a challenging case of prostate cancer. My success, along with success of some others with similar cases, is expanding the view of what is possible with this intermittent triple therapy. I post my updates on the prostate cancer board.

I was again happy to get another lower PSA result for my test on 3/2/2010, 0.03 using again the Roche ECLIA ultrasensitive...
