To Do: Put some flab on!

Posted 06-19-2010 at 08:15 AM by janewhite1

So I lost about 6 pounds to the severe asthma symptoms I had in early May. When your lungs are significantly impaired, even eating can seem like too much effort. Once I got properly diagnosed and treated, I stopped losing, but I haven't gained any back yet. At the neighborhood health fair, I tried this electrical doodad that measures body fat. Clocked in at 21%, which is right at the bottom of the "idea" range for a woman my age. BMI 20.8, and I'm fairly large-framed.

Disconnected health thoughts

Posted 06-18-2010 at 07:44 PM by janewhite1

I can put my palms on the floor. How's that for flexibility?

I've used my rescue inhaler twice in the past three weeks. That's an awesomely low number.

Going back on the Nortrip. was a good idea. I'm feeling much better already, and I actually slept over 7 hours Wednesday night.

I've been having throat issues, hoarseness, etc. I can't begin to sort out how much is from allergies directly, how much from reflux, and how much from Advair.

Latest med tweaking, doctor's questions.

So I went back on the nortriptyline. My average pain level went from about a 2 to a 4, which is not acceptable. First of all, 3-4 all day long stinks and interferes with sleep. Second, while I can still function normally at 4 and almost normally at 5, from there it's much more likely to get into the 6-7 true flare range, where I have trouble even concentrating.

Before you forget, Jane, here are some questions for the allergist next time you see him.

1) When can...

Still waiting for Godot

Posted 06-15-2010 at 06:52 PM by janewhite1

or at least waiting for the end of tree pollen season. Every day the weather forecast shows a sharp decrease in tree pollen within the next few days, and every day the pollen count comes back "very high" again. Out of the past seven weeks, its been "very high" every day but 3 (and of course those were "high.")

Still surviving with no oral meds but Zantac. Been mildly nauseous off and on the past few days, I think it's nortriptyline withdrawl. It's...

One day at a time.

Posted 06-14-2010 at 03:38 PM by janewhite1

So it's been a few days since I decided enough pills were enough. I'm still taking Zantac 75 about 3 times a day, and of course still using my Advair and topicals. With any luck, stomach problems will subside soon and I'll be able to cut down or eliminate heartburn meds.

It's the first time in 5 years I haven't been on tricyclics, and I'm pretty happy to be free of them. We'll see if it lasts.

Unfortunately, back home and still having allergies. I think it's just...
