For some reason, whether due to perimenopause, my serotonin deficiency, my reactive hypoglycemia, or just being tired, I have resorted to being more aggressive instead of being assertive. While waiting in line at the pharmacy, I noticed some snacks and cereals made especially for diabetics that claimed to keep your blood sugar stabilized. Some of the brands had chocolate in them and a sugar alcohol. I am staying away from chocolate, and I have terrible intestinal pains with the sugar alcohols. I mean double- over, moaning kind of pains. I had tried one of the popular diet meal plans for diabetics where they send you food in the mail. I finally had to give the food away because...

Well, the food diary didn't last very long. I quit about half day. Started feeling poorly this evening. I made spaghetti, and thought I would try out the whole wheat organic variety. It tasted fine, but looked a bit strange. But, even my picky eater swallowed it down without so much as a word. I guess the sauce hid the color. Next time, I might try pulverizing carrots or some other vegetable and hiding it in the sauce. That's one way to get veggies in my kids!

After reading up on reactive hypoglycemia (RHG) I have decided it would be a good idea to start a food and blood sugar (BS) diary. Let's see how long I can manage that.

I've read that RHG sufferers are also helped by supplementing their diet with certain vitamins, including B- Complex, C, Zinc, and niacin. I stopped taking my multivitamin because I was taking the chocolate chews that have sugar in them. Will need to find a MVI without sugar and not so big that I can't swallow it...

Had a great weekend. My fatigue was minimal. I find I must still eat a small meal or a protein or lower carb snack about every couple of hours. I will be busy and all of a sudden it hits me and I know I need to eat. I am running out of ideas for a variety in snacks. I am still waiting to see a dietician. I know the basic concepts and have a book on low blood sugar, but none on reactive hypoglycemia (now referred to as RHG). I posted a question on the Fibromyalgia board in hopes of a response...
