Blood Preasure Measurement - Blood and Blood Vessel Message Board

Hi all, i have some question regarding the title stated.
I just bought a device on measuring my blood preasure. This device manage to provide me the systolic prosuare and diastolic presuare as well as pulse rate per minute. And after that, it'll prompt me the overall conlusion either I am normal, high blood preasure or low blood preasure.
But almost very time it'll give me normal reading. But yet i don't trust it very well.

I am wondering is there any standard measurement reading that anyone can give me or redirect me to any web-sites according to different range of age, sex, and event weight?
Let's say for example, I am 26 this year, and for my case, my systolic preasure should be 156 bit ( for example) and my diatolic should be 111 bit (for example) and my overall pulse rate per minute should be 70. And for my father, age 67, he should have another different set of figure to compare.
So, please guide me or suggest me any table or chart that I should follow..

hi..for starters what type of bp machine do you have?..the most trusted on the market (for the layperson) is Omron...as far as bp measurement, anything over 140/90 is considered high regardless of you age, etc..bp should be measured while you are in a relaxed state, sitting in a chair with a back and arms, feet flat on the floor, no talking or moving or distractions...bp should be taken 3 times (in one sitting) at 5 minute intervals, then those 3 readings are averaged...one or two high bp readings is not a cause for alarm..your dr is the only one who can dx you with high blood pressure...alot of people have high bp readings while in the dr's office, however their readings outside of their dr's office are normal--this is considered "white coat syndrome"...you need to schedule a dr's appt and take your bp machine with you to calibrate it with your dr's bp cuff...good luck..:-)
