Hello, I am new to this board, and need help understanding what my bone marrow results mean. It has been a heck of a year with my health, and I really need to understand what is going on. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism from Hashimoto's, chronic anemia, and I have had enlarged lymph nodes in my neck for 8 months. A bone marrow test was performed, and the results indicate the following:
moderate hypercellular bone marrow (60%)
no iron stores
rare hypersegmented neutrophils present
rare howell-jolly bodies present w/ erythrocytes
minimal normochromic normocytic anemia
beta-2 microglobulin 2.28 (normal 1.85 or less)
sed rate 36 (normal 20 or less)
poorly defined band of restricted protein mobility detected in gamma globulins
My dr stated the following from the results: iron is not being absorbed, and to continue taking iron. Liver testing is needed. Hypercellular is odd because it is opposite of the anemia I have, and he stated that it is not embolizing, as if I had stomach surgery??? He added an Immunofixation Test to the kidney work-up that I am having done. (Kidneys being checked because I have had blood pressure problems since the age of 23, and I am now 36, with no family history of hbp)
He also stated that I am showing signs of MDS, even though it is rare, especially for my age, but that it may or may not turn into this.
If anyone can tell me what any of these results indicate, I would love to know.

Do I have a blood disorder, and is this minor or serious? I guess it depends on the underlying cause??? My dr is great, but it is just hard to understand what all of this means. Thanks for listening!!
