| High Platelet Count
About a month ago I went to the doctor for a routine physical examination. My platelet count was 730. I went back 2 weeks later to have it retested and my platelet count rose to 755. This is the first time a doctor has ever mentioned my platelets being high but honestly, I haven't had a CBC in about 4 years. My doctor has me going back next week to run some more tests including an inflammatory marker test. I can't help but be nervous about the possible causes of this increase. Is it possible that this could be caused by allergies? I had a splenectomy about 20 years ago. Could not having a spleen have something to do with the high platelet count and if so, why has this not shown up before now? Any input is greatly appreciated.
