Question about Bone marrow Biopsy
I am a 48 year old female. Six years ago I was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome since than I have been treated on a regular basis for this. I was diagnosed by Bone Marrow Biopsy six years ago.
Now six years later I have had another Bone Marrow Biopsy done by a different Hematologist and it came back completely normal, it was sent to Cytogenetics to check for colonal abnormality such as Refractory Anemia. This test came back normal as well.
After talking with the doctor he says that the new bone marrow is not consistant with blood test results over the six years and wants to go with original diagnosis of Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
My question is doesn't this seem real unusual to have a completely normal biopsy with every other test showing different?
I appreciate any help I can get with this problem. Thanks in advance.
