What Does a High Esr Result Mean

I was checked for rheumotoid arthiritis and my doc said my esr levels were high, but she said nothing about having arthirits. what does this mean

High ESR means inflammation in the blood. It's a general test and not specific to any illness.

So it could be from anything - RA or some other autoimmune disorder, a virus, injury, functional disorders like carpel tunnel or tennis elbow or it could be just a blimp in your bloodwork and the next time you get tested it'll be back to normal.


ESR is also called Sedimentation rate, or SED Rate.
