I've had 2 PBC's, and altho both were devastating when they happened, I was fortunate 2B a quick healer. W/pulmonologist's blessing, I began walking hospital corridors on the 3rd day, knowing inactivity is worst thing for blood vessels. I would say I began walking outside about a week after PBC. I returned to work as a floor associate about a month later.
After my 2nd PBC, the hematologist ordered genetic testing which showed I have Factor V Leiden and too much Factor 8 (anti-hemophilia). Subsequently, my brother also tested positive for FVL. No one would listen to his complaints until my diagnosis, even tho he himself is a physician (retired). He almost died after infection set in on his upper arm after a fall from a bicycle, but no one made the connection until my diagnosis.
Both my PBC's came after falls, (the 2nd one I fell on the treadmill

-my own fault 4 not holding on to handrails) so I've learned to be very careful wherever I walk, esp. going up and down stairs (we have 12!). Anyway, unless UR experiencing more than mild dizziness, I'd say start walking ASAP; start w/sitting up & progress to short, then gradually extended, walks. Good luck!
