| Carotid Bruit Quiestion
I am a 40 year old woman with history of mild mitral valve prolapse/regurgitation. I have always been montored by my cardiogist and up until recently, he has never heard a cortid bruit. Last week i had a check-up and he heard a right carotid bruit. He's not quite sure why he is hearing this. It definitely wasn't caused by respiration sound, etc, because he had me hold my breath. I do not have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, overweight, nor do I smoke/drink. He is sending me tomorrow for a doppler ultrasound. Has anyone else had this? Can you please give me your input? I find it hard to believe that I would have a blockage. But I guess anything is always possible when it comes to the human body. I'm quite nervous.
Thanks
