Does ibuprofen use cause high blood pressure?

I've always had normal blood pressure but yesterday at the doc's my reading was 150/85. The last three months I have been taking ibuprofen almost every day (anywhere from 400 to 1200 mg. a day) to treat a shoulder problem. It's the only thing that's changed in my life. Can this level of ibuprofen use cause blood pressure to go up? If yes would my blood pressure go back down if I quit using it? I am a 55 year old female. Thanks in advance. - L.G.

Re: Does ibuprofen use cause high blood pressure?

I can't say for sure, but I don't think ibuprofen can cause your blood pressure to go up, on the other hand, the pain you are having can cause it to go up. I have been taking ibuprofen for years as it is also the only thing I can take that helps the pain and headaches I get. You are taking a very high dose of it, I hope you are eating something before you take it, you most likely know already, but the ibuprofen is really bad for the stomache. I am 65 and almost every time I go to the doc, my blood pressure goes up, most of the time it is 110 over 70.
