does 3.3 white blood cell count too low? I 'm bit freak out by my result of white blood count 3.3 ?? I think that is very low.. By I feel healthly. I run 26 miles wk.. The doc mention that the blood test result only showed slightly low white blood count. I feel a bit confused about it all. I'm waiting for neutroplis blood test result. Not sure what to think.
HI...same with me. I just had WBC of 3.3. BUT it's down from 3.6 in Dec 2008 and 5.1 in May of 2008. My regular doctor is sending me to an oncologist who, he said, may order a bone marrow biopsy. Gosh, I hope he doesn't.....I feel just fine only tired. I am 60 yrs old, though, and he said age is a factor....if I were younger, he would not be concerned.
Anyone else have same WBC and had a biopsy?
Thank you for your replies. So far i have had three WBC tests in a space of 3 months. The first one was 3.3, second one was 3.9 and the last one was 3.7. My doctors said he is not that concerned... but he thinks i have always have low count ... I feel extremely well... But i think a Good diet has a major part what you put in your body. I need to do another test at Jan 2010.
HI...by "other numbers", do you mean RBC? Mine are very low. I am just worried that something is wrong, but of course won't find out until next week. No sense driving myself crazy I guess.

hi, by "others numbers" I meant my test for Neutroplis blood test was normal.
My white count has ran for the past 8 years between 3.1 and 3.7. I had surgery around 4 months ago and had to go for pre-admission testing and when one of the newer doctors called me from the practice with the results of all the testing, she said that my wbc was on the low side. When I went back to my doctors and saw the doctor I normally would see, I ask the her to look back for the past several years and look at my wbc. She went back about 8 years and it was also in the 3.1 - 3.7 range but no one
ever told me it was low. She told me as long as my other numbers were all normal she was not concerned. There are other things they test in a WBC test and they were all normal so she was not real concerned. I figured, after all of these years of having this count maybe I just naturally run on the low side. I am not sure and I am a little confused too. Should I be concerned..

HI...my doctor told me that many people naturally have low WBC. He said that since my WBC was going down, and I am 60 he needed further testing. I think your doctor was right saying that some people just have normally low WBC.
I, myself, am wondering why I need a bone marrow aspiration with only a low WBC and low RBC.
My white count in 2007 was 4.4, but this last check was 3.7 which is slightly low. My doc wasn't concerned, just said we will re-check again in the fall.........I know it's only a little low, but still concerns me a bit. All my other numbers are great.......and I've just been kind of tired......= )
If anyone has any input that would be great!
Thanks,
Amy
