Re: how long does it take for a blood clot to dissolve
I had a post knee surgery clot in December.
On Coumadin for 6 months wore compression stocking on that leg.
As of June 23, this summer - 2nd Dopplar showed no sign of the clot.
Hope that helps. I was told by the vascular surgeon to wear this stocking on my 'clot leg' for 2 years to help keep the valves operating correctly.
Re: how long does it take for a blood clot to dissolve
Thanks Cavy....I had a DVT in my calf about 3 months ago...did some injections until INR level was over 2.0..now im on warfarin for 6 months...it has just started bothering me the past week, leg is aching and sore...no pain or swelling just achy...never did tell me to wear stocking...i was hoping it was dissolved but since its been sore im kind of worried now...did yours get sore at all after being on your feet all day or anything??
Re: how long does it take for a blood clot to dissolve
Yes and it still does. I have been wearing the compression stocking since January. I think it helps keep things moving up the vein but that is a Dr. Advice for me and not my knowledge. Ask a vascular Dr. about the effectiveness. I was on Lovenox for a week and then the coumadin for 6 months. INR was about 2 months before it settled in. I ended up doing 6 mg, 6 mg, and 9 mg on 3 day rotation. As you know, stay away from Alcohol and dark green veggies...cranberry juice too I think...
Re: how long does it take for a blood clot to dissolve
hello, i had a blood clot in my leg that went from my knee to my groin. i got it on chemotherapy for brain cancer. it was very painful. i started on lovenox (and continue on it while i am doing chemo) and the pain was gone in just a week. don't know if that means the clot was gone. hope that helps.
