Low HGB, MCV, HCT, MCH/ High RDW

Hello

Okay, I need some help. I have had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, ultrasounds, etc. All show no traces of polyps, ulcers or the like. (I.E. I'm not bleeding internally.) I eat healthy and consume a lot of iron. And yet I have Iron Deficiency Anemia... I was just diagnosed, and the doctor sent me for all types of tests. I am a 23 year old woman, and what brought me to the doctors was overwhelming fatigue, dizziness, inability to be active with out near passing out. My iron level was so low the doctor ordered me to have an Iron IV. And yet after all this, I have no idea what is causing it. My Gyno has advised me to get a bone marrow biopsy.

Here are my blood results, any help would be much appreciated.

WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT: 8.6
RED BLOOD CELL COUNT: 4.33
HEMOGLOBIN: 11.0 (low)
HEMATOCRIT: 33.1 (low)
MCV: 76.5 (low)
MCH: 25.5 (low)
MCHC: 33.3
RDW: 16.5 (high
PLATELET COUNT: 328
ABSOLUTE NEUTROPHILS: 4515
ABSOLUTE LYMPHOCYTES: 3122
ABSOLUTE MONOCYTES: 585
ABSOLUTE EOSINOPHILS: 344
ABSOLUTE BASOPHILS: 34
NEUTROPHILS: 52.5
LYMPHOCYTES: 36.3
MONOCYTES: 6.8
BASOPHILS: 0.4

Also, the doctor says my iron was at a 5, and my red blood cells are very small...

Re: Low HGB, MCV, HCT, MCH/ High RDW

Do you have heavy periods? That maybe the cause. You maybe bleeding from the small intestine and the only way to know if to have a capsule endoscopy. You may want to go to the anemia board. There are lots of people there that may be able to give you a better answer. If you had the iv iron, it will take several weeks before your levels goes up. You will need more than one infusion.
