Re: B12 levels keep dropping

Please do yourself a favor you are seriously defieincy and need treatment and fast. Normal starts at 200 and even at 200 you can get nerve damage. It is really serious. I have seen people up at 300 and 400 have symptoms. Do you have pins and needles or numbness in your hands, feet, arms, legs, fingers and toes? this is a sign that the nerves are affected. It is great that you got a B12 shot but at 61, that isnt' enough. there is no danger is a high B12 level but a low one is very dangerous. not only does it affect the nerve but it can affect your cognitive thinking as well if low enough for long enough and research has show that alzeimers patients have really low B12 levels.

do yourself a favor and get to the store and get some sublingual B12 - they work faster that the tablets - take 2500mcg and take them daily for 2 weeks and then take 1000 mcg daily for a week and get retested in 1 month and see where you are. If you can get up to 800 you are great, if higher that is even better.

Re: B12 levels keep dropping

Not one B-12 shot, but weekly B-12 shots!! Also using Nutrtional Yeast. Neither the sub-lingual or oral meds made the slightest bit of difference. Also drinking protein shakes that have 140% of normal daily requirement. Still below 70. And yes, the occasional tingling is now present virtually all the time.

Re: B12 levels keep dropping

first question - where do you live? What is the range on your lab sheet? Do you live in the USA? The range here is 200-900. I can't imagine anyone here having a level of 70 and only having occassional tingingling for years without having severe damage which is making me wonder if you are from somewhere else with a different range.

You said the sublinguals didn't work - what dose did you try? There are lots of different doses and 2 different types - they start at 500mcg and go up to 10,000 mcg, so there is a huge range. There is also cyanocobalamin = think that is how you spell it and then there is Methylcobalamin - this is much stronger and much harder to find - usually only in vitamin shops or some websites -

I personally give myself B12 shots 3 times per week in order to keep my levels up and if I dont do that, they plummet. I know others that do weekly shots with 5,000 mcgc of the sublinguals and others only 1000mcg without anythign else - everyone is different.

Dont' bother with the nasal spray -it really doesn't work for anyone with a deficiency or sinus troubles or a cold or sniffles

good luck and hope something helps.
