PCOS and raised platelets
I have just been told I could have PCOS by my endocrinologist. I have all the classic symptoms: fluctuating hormonal levels, male hair growth patterns (lovely!), disrupted cycles and a little bit of weight gain (not helped by my life style). She reckons if I lose weight - about 1 1/2 stone - I should see an improvement. I have been having migraines and she thinks this has to do with the hormone levels.
My question is about raised platelets. Recent blood tests have shown that I have slightly raised platelets - nothing excessive - but it seems to be creeping up. Does anyone else with PCOS have this problem? The endo didn't seem to think it was related and thinks it is something for my GP to look into.
Where is a good source of information relating to this condition? I do want to get my weight down because apparently I am also insulin resistant with this condition and that puts me at risk of Type 2 diabetes. Not nice but I was expecting it and I can actually do something about it now as it has been caught relatively early.
