Normal Blood Count?

What does this mean? I recently had a blood test done to check my count, plus my thyroid and the DR said my blood count was normal. What does a normal blood count rule out as far as illness?

The normal blood count looks BASICALLY at the following counts: white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, red blood cell average dize, amount of hemoglobin, and a few other things that aren't as important. So with the following things can be found:

white blood cells - high can mean infection, really high can mean leukemia, really low can mean bone marrow failure

platelets - high can mean essential thrombocythemia, low can mean bone marrow failure or platelet desctruction

red blood cells - low can mean anemia, high can mean polycythema rubra vera, you can also have different types of anemia based on how large the red blood cells are.

A blood test known as the CBC can simply tell you the condition of your body in the last 120 days. If your counts are in the normal range, there is not much wrong with the blood production system. It does not diagnose anything by itself. The blood count is simply one piece of information that has to be put with other symptoms and signs to be of value.
