Hyoid question? - Bone Disorders Message Board

What are all the resons you can think of for your hyoid bone to sit off center? Mine is crooked to one side and I need some answers.

From what I know the hyoid bone isnt even part of the skull and that it doesnt articulate with another bone. Don't know why yours is crooked though......

My hyoid bone pops when I swallow. It is right above the adams apple to the top left or top right.
I am going to go see an specialist about it. I was wondering if yours was doing the same... When I move my head far to the left or to the right it does not pop however when I keep it straight it pops. I do not think it is a tumor or a solid object because it happends on both sides.

No nothing like that. I can pop mine though if I press on it. Mine is just off to the side with every other bone in my body.
