Just noticed a hard bump that seems to be on the bone...a little bigger than the size of a quarter.
it's on my left side...kind of where the clavicle meets the sternum...or a little left of where the sternum meets the throat area.
Never noticed it before....until last week.
Seeing the doctor tomorrow...just to be safe...but I'm also impatient and the "not knowing" is killing me...lol
Saw my GP doc this morning and he said it was probably nothing more than a bone mass of some sort...probably benign.
He said to keep an eye on it and call them if it got bigger and we'd do Xrays.
I wasn't comfortable with that answer so asked to go ahead and have Xrays.
The tech had the doctors in Radiology look at it and said that it wasn't bone. I wasn't sure what that meant b/c the bump is very hard. She said that it meant there were no fractures and no masses. I asked did that mean no tumor and she said yes. She's not sure what it is...but that the Xrays show that both my left and right clavicles are the same.
So now I wait for the doc to get the report from the radiologist and see what he says.
I'm totally confused b/c the tech couldn't tell me what it is. She wasn't sure if there are lymph nodes in that area or if muscle could do something like this!?!?!?
She said an MRI may show something.
I've been trying to look up lymph nodes on the net...but all the pics are a bit confusing. I think there are some around the area...maybe the Thoracic Duct?
Any ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated! I HATE not having any answers, yet!!!
Boy - the wait is ALWAYS the worst! And the tech's are not really suppose to tell us anything. Now I see why - cause if they can't figure out what it is - it's just gets our nerves more upsettled.
I think there are some lymph nodes around there - also curious if it could be a thyroid issue (maybe yours is lower than most).
Wish I could be of more help, but until we know what the doc thinks - have no idea what to suggest. Maybe someone else can help.
Just know we are here for you!
Post back when you hear from your doc. and let us know what he thinks.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm afraid my GP doc will blow it off as nothing to worry about....however, he'll just have to deal with it b/c until I know what it is...he'll get no rest...lol
I'll definitely be back as soon as I have more info. They should get the report by tomorrow...Friday at the latest.
nothing yet...(unless there's a message waiting at home)
not to worry....I bug the crap out of my docs! (Still recovering from fusion surgery of my spine)
A friend said that it could be related to my surgery back in November?
I had L5/S1...2 years after a microdisectomy. Recovery was extremely tough! And still healing....a very very slow process. I still have burning/aching feelings but he says recovery is not a steady thing...it's more up/down with the down fewer and far b/w as you go along...
But my friends said that sometimes bones can pop out of place (or something like that) during a back surgery and maybe that happened?
Glad to hear you did seek additional advice.
And don't fret just yet. Wait and see what the read on the MRI says. But I can totally understand - the unknown is the worst! Tell the good, even tell me the bad, but don't tell me and make my mind race through the possibilities - and I'm a wreck.
Well, know that I'm thinking about you!
Post back when you find out what they think.
