please if anyone has experienced this or knows what it could be please give me your feedback because im am very nervous. About 8 months ago i noticed that my neck clicks in my cervical spine at the base of my head. everysingle time i rotate my head to the right. i went to three doctors who ended up telling me its from my anxiety or its just tight muscles. It always does it everysingle time there hasnt been a moment when it doesnt. But its only with right rotataion. I also have a feeling of lightheadedness but i think it might be do to my anxiety disorder. Im just scared that this will lead to a stroke or something and im only 22. im constantly worried about this to the point that i get panic attacks from just thinking about it
I'm 36 and ever since I was a teenager, my neck made clicks, pops and grinds when I rotate to the right and left (more to the right). I'm not sure why you would think this would result in a stroke, but I believe it's related to my TMJ and over tight muscles.
I think it's relatively common, especially with people that suffer from TMJ. I wouldn't think that it's a stroke indicator or anything more serious.
I've had TMJ for over 12 years, and one of the symptoms I've had is the clicking , cracking neck. It gets worse when my TMJ acts up, so I'm sure mine is TMJ related. It probably is due to the tight muscles that goes right along with the TMJ.
I also get more of the lightheadedness when my neck is cracking. Those muscles can cause lots of trouble..don't worry about a stroke, I think your to young for that.
Search for two conditions on the internet: Clicking larynx, diagnosed and treated by Dr. Marshall Smith at the University of Utah, and Eagle's syndrome. It might also be a tight tendon or ligament snapping over bone.
