define tail bone "hot spot" on bone scan

What does a doctor mean when he says a "hot spot" showed up on a bone scan of the tailbone?

Re: define tail bone "hot spot" on bone scan

A signal is a hot spot, which signifies a blood supply leading to the area of the bone. This could mean a fracture that requires a blood supply to heal properly or it could be a small lesion on the bone.
