i have fingers that have the bump down on the knuckle closest to my nails. the worst being on my right index finger. got so large and red at one point my PCP sent me to a rheumatologist. he gave me an injection in feb and i it has shrunk more than half the sixe, no more pain, not more rednesss.
I also have a similar situation. I have had tenderness for a while, but just noticed a hard bump and slight swelling at the bottom joint of my right index finger.
I am 30/F. I made an appointment with an orthopedic hand specialist and will be seeing him tomorrow...
I would also suggest that you see someone. I will follow-up with a post on how my visit goes tomorrow.
I went to the Dr. this morning. He diagnosed by bump as a form of Ganglion cyst. (completely benign)...he said that he could remove it via operation OR we could play it by ear. Since I don't have a huge amount of discomfort I decided to play it by ear.
I am a almost 34 years old female and On my left hand middle finger palm up joint closest to my hand I have what feels like a bone nub growing up out of my joint. When I first noticed it I wasn't bothered by it but over the last couple of months it has come to be a agravation to me. The area around it has become more sensitive and it has become sensitive to the touch so I am more aware of it and tend to baby my hand. I started looking on the internet yesterday to self diagnose and soon found myself in tears after looking up bone spurs and Arthritis, Calcium deposits, Bone polyps and Herberdens and Bouchards nodes. ( the Herberdens and Bouchards nodes are found on the joint closest to your nail and in the middle joint of the fingers)
I called my Dr. and have made a apt for this afternoon to find out just what it is. There are so many scary things that I have seen on here and I don't want to self diagnose myself with anything as scary as alot of the things I have read about. I will post what my Dr. says when I get home.

Hi, My name is Danyal and I said I would update you after my Dr. Apt. So I went to the Dr. for the bump on my left middle finger joint by my palm and he said that it is a Ganglia Cyst. That is just a little tear that could have been caused by just clapping your hands and that it is not serious at all they can stick a needle in it and drain it but it will just fill back up again or you can go to a hand sergon and they will remove it and repair the little tear, Or you can just leave it alone if it don't bother you and sometimes they will go away on there own.
