| Re: hip dysplasia, need help!!
Hi
I have mild hip dysplasia and femoral anteversion and I'm 25. They're doing a femoral osteotomy to correct the anteversion, and they're ignoring the dysplasia for the mo, but they can correct it surgically without doing a hip replacement. Haven't the doctors talked to you about this? It sounds like you're really restricted in what you do and should definitely consider the surgery - for hip dysplasia I think it's called a PAO - periacetabular osteotomy. From what I gather it's not exactly an easy operation, and you'll have a good few months recovery, but it's the op they do on younger patients to delay having to do full hip replacements, and it should mean you're able to walk everywhere and be relatively pain-free. If you're as held back as it sounds I would really recommend talking to a consultant orthopaedic surgeon about this. Look it up on the net, there's quite a bit out there. Look up the PAO and Ganz osteotomies I think.
Hope you get some help, good luck with the wedding and future babies!
Kx.
