Ulnar Collateral Ligament Injury

Hi everyone, I hope someone can give me some words of wisdom because I'm starting to despair! I injured my thumb what seems like ages ago now - Dec 15th 2006. My horse pushed it back to far, I heard a crunch & I nearly passed out with the immediate pain. I had a GA to explore the damage - I have a partial tear to the Ulnar collateral ligament. I am also a performance level pianist ( ) so because it was not a 100% tear they decided to take a risk not to surgically repair & to try to let it heal alone. Long story short I had it cast for 4 weeks & then have had 11 weeks ultrasound & have been doing excercises & wear a splint in between. Whilst the movement has improved, I cannot grip anything without searing pain at the bottom of the thumb & I cannot move it across the palm, it's just stuck! I can play the piano a bit but the pain after is searing again. The area around the MCP joint of the thumb is very thickened with scar tissue & the palm side of the MCP joint is also sore. The area over the UCL is very sore if tapped & it just does NOT seem to be getting any better, I am despiring & can't find anyone who's experienced such a slow recovery from this??? Any help much appreciated
