| distal radius break
I broke the distal radius bone on the right arm and was stablized with a wrist splint. I went to the ortho. 1 week later and he placed me in a cast for six weeks. I complained of pain on the ulner side at that time. He state that there could be a chip that is not seen in the exray however would not treat it any different. I was exrayed again at 3 weeks at which the doctor stated the I had a bulge around the break and could be corrected with a plate. The reason I understood was to keep my arm the same length was the main reason. I elected not to. I asked again about the pain on the ulner side of the wrist. He then stated it was probably from the imobalization and looked at the exray again, stating the ligaments etc. could have been compramised by the fall. At 6 week he removed the cast and prescribed theropy. Again I asked about the pain on the ulner side. He stated that the theropy may help and would look at it again in 5 weeks.
My question is...is this normal?
I also have a large painful bulge on the ulner side and alot of pain when twisted or pulled. The radius side is somewhat sore like I had expected.
Will the theropy help? and will 5 week cause more damage than help
